Cleveland Browns rookie running-back Montario Hardesty started training camp on the sidelines, as he will be out for a few weeks with a twisted knee that happened during the week at a rookie practice.
Hardesty did not participate in drills during Saturday’s morning practice. The injury occurred a few days ago and Coach Eric Mangini said it is not related to his injuries in college. He is rehabbing the injury and the Browns will take a look at it in a couple weeks. Veteran Browns running-back Jerome Harrison took most of the reps on the first-team offense.
Hardesty, who has battled injuries during his college career at the University of Tennessee, would have been taking reps with the first-team along with Harrison if he was healthy said coach Mangini. The battle for the starting running-back spot is up for grabs and with Hardesty starting on the sidelines, he takes a step back in the race for the starting job.
You can listen to Browns head coach Eric Mangini’s press conference from today in the STC Browns Audio Vault.
