Players Mo Williams and Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Their Wives Host 30 Sixth Graders
for Special Read to Achieve Event
Tuesday, January 26th
In the midst of a truly XL season, Cavs players Mo Williams and Zydrunas Ilgauskas
will took a break from the hardwood and teamed up with their wives, Kesha Williams
and Jennifer Ilgauskas, for a special “Reading Timeout” with a message
that mirrors a season where the sky is the limit! The players and their wives
read “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss to a group of
30 students from Patrick Henry Middle School and encouraged students to set
goals to accomplish their dreams. Much like the team, these sixth graders “…can
steer yourself in any direction you choose! YOU are the guy who’ll decide
where to go! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting… so get on your
way!”
When the final page was turned, there was a brief Q&A before the players and wives went head-to-head with the students in multiple games of Scrabble as they utilized vocabulary and spelling skills. Each student went home with a Scrabble game of their own and a ticket to an upcoming Cavs game during Read to Achieve week beginning March 1st courtesy of Mo and Z!
The
classmates from Patrick Henry Middle School were randomly selected from classrooms
throughout northeast Ohio with 100% participation in the Cavs Read to Achieve
challenge.
